Inspirational feedback from pupils who attended Matilda The Musical

We are thrilled to share some feedback from Heathfield Primary School, who attended Matilda The Musical at The Royal Shakespeare Theatre in Stratford-upon-Avon with the help of theatre works! grants. Inspirational feedback from pupils such as these motivate us to keep extending our reach across the US and UK, so that other children from disadvantaged backgrounds can experience the joy of theatre.

Here are some quotes from excited pupils after they watched Matilda:

โ€œI think I could relate to Matilda by loving to make stories and standing up for whatโ€™s right. Itโ€™s inspired me stand up for the truth no matter the consequences. I would love to be an actor in the theatre on stage because i thought it was really cool.โ€

โ€œI probably relate most to Matilda as Iโ€™m brave, like reading and want to stand up to people to help my friends. I think it was definitely inspiring because the actors were younger than us and they were performing in front of loads of people. Itโ€™s also really cool that they are already following their dreams performing on stage at the age some of them are.โ€

We also received some lovely comments from a teacher at Heathfield school:

โ€œThey honestly loved the show, it was quite moving to see the children experience something like this for the first time and see the way they were absorbed and amazed by the world of theatre! Thank you so much for all that you do as a charity as it is a real privilege to take these children to experience the best that theatre has to offer. โ€œ

We love receiving feedback as it reminds us how impactful our work is on young people. theatre works! has supported grants for over 12,500 theatre tickets to young people since the charity started. To make a donation and help support our work, please click here
